Excellent!Feb 02, 2010

I've been using Listerine for years, ever since I was a little kid. To be honest, I'm so used to the "nasty" taste, it isn't nasty to me anymore. I don't even think about it. If the taste is too strong, just dilute it in water. I did it as a kid and I still do it because it's too strong otherwise for me.
Interestingly, in 1976 the feds said that Listerine could not longer claim that it helped with sore throats, but I've been using Listerine for sore throats for years. I rinse it down my throat as far as I can gargle and it sometimes it just kills the sore throat dead if I catch it early enough. Make sure you don't swallow it though.
I don't use Listerine every day, but I will use it as part of my dental hygiene.

The one and onlyJul 19, 2007
By Pool Enthusiast Yes, this is the original Listerine. Yes, it still has the same nasty taste. So, why do I use it? Simple, it works, period. It is strong and therefore powerful. You can actually feel it working. Follow the instructions on the label. Other wise it may be too intense.

Up Date I had to order some more Listerine and Good Buy was quick shipping It. I guess I Am content with It If Listerine Never changes, Where does some of these manufactures get the Idea that they need to change the formula without the Customers ever complaining? If the Customers are Not complaining and They are making a profit then They must be doing something right, Coca Cola once thought They needed to change the formula and Their Customers back lashed, Would It Not be nice If Customers Not only done this for Not just the taste of the food but also the quality of the food? Listerine Not only prevents germs but also stops germs, when I get a toothache I hold Listerine In My mouth for a few hours but also Listerine Is one of the least poisonous mouthwash so much that can actually drink small amounts when ever I get salmonella I take around 3 table spoons or a cap full and It seems to work. Do Not do this with other mouthwash because some are very poisonous. Also check out Colloidal Silver also Food Grade 35% Hydrogen Peroxide.
Diluted!Jan 06, 2011
By Shock Writer Greatly diluted down from what it used to be. Still mostly works clearing illness out of the throat when used as a gargle. Another product that may bite the dust due to greed.

A good mouthwash--if that's what you wantApr 09, 2011
By Ron Z I used to use mouthwash regularly until I realized I was swallowing too much of it.
My choice was always Listerine. With such an awful taste you know it's got to be good. And it is. Listerine is a very good mouthwash.
But mouthwash is not meant for human consumption. Inevitably, we'll swallow some every now and then. Oral pore absorption is also to be considered.
I pondered alternatives. One stood out: vodka.
Now, alcohol has never appealed to me. Even most wines taste like turpentine to me. However, vodka you can swallow; mouthwash you should not. This one difference was enough to make me switch.
I chose Smirnoff vodka for two good reasons: (1) It was nearest the door and (2) it was on sale. I bought a bottle of 80 proof. It also comes in 90 and 100 proof bottles, suitable for those equipped with tougher tongues than mine.
According to my dentist, Dr. Teplitsky, vodka kills germs and cleans the mouth. It heals small sores and eliminates plaque. If swallowed accidentally it's not a problem. "Just don't report me to the AMA," he said.
"No problem, doc. How about the KGB?"
Vodka has helped me overcome sore throats. A once a day gargle/rinse seems to suffice. Of course, this could be extended to twice a day if necessary.
True, it is an added expense, but I don't pinch pennies where health is concerned--especially during those cold winter months. And unlike with mouthwash, I remain unperturbed when accidentally some goes down.
