Poorly designed productJun 10, 2010

After my previous tongue-scraper snapped, I bought this at the local store as it was the only one available. When I brought it home and used it, I realized it was very poorly designed in comparison to my old one. The handle is extremely flexible making it nearly impossible to apply enough pressure to get a good scrape. Also, the scraper part is made of a rubbery material which again makes it hard to get a good scrape. I highly recommend that you DO NOT purchase this product as it does not serve its purpose well.

Might as well scrape your tongue with a wet noodle...Jan 17, 2011
By Jose Ramirez So the big box store stopped selling the Pureline Oralcare* brand scraper that I usually use and only had this Dentek brand. "Ok," I thought, "I like the Dentek floss picks, so I'll give their scraper a try even though the head looks small."
What a disaster. The handle is about as stiff as a wet noodle (ok, I'm exaggerating - let's call it an "al dente" noodle) and the edge that scrapes the tongue is not an edge at all - it's rounded so it doesn't scrape well.
The flexibility of the handle and the roundness of the scraper edge cause you to use a lot of pressure to try to get some gunk off your tongue. By the time you reach the tip of your tongue, the flexible handle whips the "scraper" head back in to shape, splattering saliva all over your bathroom. It's a good thing that the scraper doesn't actually clean anything off your tongue, because the resulting splatter would be really gross!
So in the end, there is no redeeming quality to this scraper. It really, really sucks.
*Be advised that the Pureline referenced above isn't the bees knees either. It performs well, with a stiff handle and a good scraper edge, but it's not very durable. So don't bust your butt looking for that specific brand. I think I'm going to try one of the stainless ones here on Amazon next. I'll post an update if I find anything I like...

Works perfect for me!Aug 26, 2011

Contrary to many of the other reviewers, this tongue cleaner works perfectly for me. It cleans well and the flexibility allows it to do so without scratching me or harming my tongue. I found other scrapers positively painful to use and no more effective than this product. If you are new to tongue cleaners, you may want to at least try both a flexible one like this and a non-flexible one to see which type works best for your needs.

Not a bad cleaner, but this product should be used with mouthwash or tongue pasteDec 10, 2009
By Danny Yu I've used the Dr. Wieder's Original Tung-Brush with Free Gel Sample - 1 ea before, which comes with a tongue paste, which helped me for the past three years. You should definitely consider that as a solid option for cleaning the gunk on your tongue as well.
With that said, I was looking for a change in a product, that would not put as much pressure on my tongue. Tongue brushes with bristles can cause pain and bleeding on your tongue. With this Dentek Tongue Cleaner (Which can be found in virtually all department stores and places like Wallgreens and CVS pharmacy), I was surprised not more people reviewed this product.
QUALITY and PERSONAL USE:
The tongue cleaner comes in a fairly solid and flexible handle, with a triangular-like brush and rubber material that helps clean out all the gunk and nasty stuff that stays on our tongue throughout the day. Unlike the bristle brushes, this brush tends to pull down instead of brush off, although you can still use it like a brush. When I clean my tongue, I pull down from the back of my tongue and gradually finish, tossing the nasty stuff into the sink. Then, usually I go back and use it like a brush, gently using the tongue cleaner and move in a back and forth motion. It doesn't cause any bleeding or pain (remember, the material is like soft rubber).
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and practicality of the tongue cleaner. Make sure you brush your teeth immediately afterwards, or rinse your mouth with mouthwash (ACT Anticavity Fluoride Rinse, Cinnamon, Alcohol Free 18-Ounce Bottle <-- makes for a solid mouthwash
Overall, not a bad option. There are other options out there like bristle brushes, wires, etc. However, if you were to chose this tongue cleaner, buy with fairly good confidence.

VERY MUCH WORTH THE WAITJan 24, 2012
By Jae These are the first tongue scrapers I have ever purchased. My dentist had told me that they were a good idea to add to my morning routine, however, the one she allowed me to take from the office was made from stainless steel. It was very painful to use. It did have an obvious effect on my breath, however it would often leave my tongue bleeding. I ordered these completely on a whim. After using them, I can greatly attest to there quality. They are made from rubberized plastic similar to most tooth brushes. However, they are a bit more flexible making it a lot more comfortable on the tongue. My tongue is back to its wonderful shade of pink and the misses has stated that my breath is fresher than ever. Oh...and buying two online was cheaper than buying one in the store. THESE ARE A MUST HAVE!!!
